Martin Gikov, Svetoslav Velinov and Kamen Slavov were elected members of the new Board of Directors of the Fund of Funds
As a result of a competition procedure, the new composition of the Board of Directors of the Fund of Funds was elected by the Ministry of Finance. It includes Svetoslav Velinov, Kamen Slavov and Martin Gikov, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company. The members of the Board have extensive expertise and a strong track record in the financial sector. They will work towards continuing the activity of structuring and implementing the financial instruments offered by the fund, their large-scale promotion, ensuring full transparency related to the company's activities, optimization of the structure and processes for the benefit of clients and taxpayers, and preparation for the new programming period 2021 – 2027.
Martin Gikov has held management positions within UniCredit Bulbank in Bulgaria, as Executive Director of UniCredit Leasing, has been responsible for the activities of UniCredit Fleet Management EAD and UniCredit Insurance Broker EAD. He headed the Structured Finance Department and was the Director of Business Development and Investment Banking. Furthermore, he participated in the Management Board of Pirelli RE AD - a joint venture between Unicredit Bulbank and Pirelli. He has worked for international companies such as Ernst & Young, Charles Schwab, Lukoil, Corps of Commissionaires.
Gikov holds a Global Executive MBA degree from the Vienna University of Economics, WU-Vienna and the State University of Minnesota, a Master's degree in Accounting Management from the University of National and World Economy and a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics and International Business from the US University of Arizona - ASU. He also holds a number of certificates and licenses from NASD, ACCA and Harvard Business School.
Kamen Slavov became a member of The Board of Directors of FMFIB after five years as Head of the Financial instruments unit.
Prior to the Fund, Kamen Slavov served as a manager, Corporate finance at KPMG in the Balkans, advising clients in both the private and the public-sector space in the region. He was focused on projects in Infrastructure, Financial Services and Telecommunications.
Previously, served in key corporate banking roles at the Bulgarian subsidiary of a major banking group in CEE, most recently in financial due diligence and rating of prospective large corporate borrowers.
Before that, Kamen was a loan officer for mid-caps and SMEs, demonstrating a strong track record in deal origination and execution. Furthermore, he is a lecturer on financial instruments as an international tutor to the ESI Funds Academy.
Kamen Slavov holds an MBA from INSEAD (France) and earned a Bachelor of Accountancy from UNWE (Bulgaria).
Svetoslav Velinov has been Head of the Treasury and Capital Markets Department at DSK Bank EAD. His career in the field of capital markets began 20 years ago. He has 8 years of experience in the banking sector in management positions in ING Bank - Sofia and DSK Bank and 10 years of experience in the field of asset management and investment intermediation. He has deep expertise with respect to hedge funds and CTAs (Commodity Trading Advisors), gained during his work at Schneeweis Partners LLC, USA. He holds a master's degree from the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts, and a bachelor's degree from the American University in Bulgaria. Velinov is a certified financial analyst (CFA charter holder).
